What is Agile Certified Practitioner Or ACP?

By Agile Exam Academy

May 13, 2022

A Certified Agile Practitioner has obtained the coveted Agile Certified Practitioner credential. “Agile practitioners” are individuals skilled in Agile approaches. They may respond quickly to environmental changes because they are comfortable with new concepts. The Agile Manifesto describes the beliefs and principles that guide Agile practitioners.

They understand a variety of Agile methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, and XP. They are conversant in project management methods such as Agile and Lean. A change may affect a large number of people across various organizations.

It takes many to dozens of skilled practitioners to lead Scrum teams, pare down superfluous procedures, encourage feedback, and ultimately implement a new approach to working in huge organizations with hundreds of employees.

Unanticipated circumstances are no match for nimble warriors. In an emergency, they keep their cool and constantly look for possibilities to improve. As a result, they are not brash and are always prepared to collaborate as part of a team.

What is an agile certified practitioner or ACP, and how can you become one? We’ll explain everything in this post about what it means to be an agile certified practitioner.

What Is Agile ACP?

To lead and manage agile projects, you must first obtain the ACP credential, which is well-known and highly-coveted worldwide. To attain the PMI-ACP® certification, you must have at least eight months of agile project management experience.

You’ll need both practical and theoretical understanding to be successful. After eight months of working on an agile project, the certification procedure entails taking a 21-hour course taught by Mike Griffiths, Mike Cohn, and other experts.

Description

The Project Management Institute Agile Certified Practitioner Training Program (PMI-ACP®) consists of eight sections, each matching the Certified Scrum Master learning objectives and Project Management Institute Agile Certified Practitioner test objectives.

Section I – Agile Project Management Essentials

The first session will be on the Agile Approach. Recognize various types of agile project management; differentiate between essential and minor agile values; grasp the difference between defined and empirical methodologies; comprehend how the agile triangle of constraints compares to conventional project management.

In this section, participants will learn about several Agile models and methodologies. On an agile project, the position of a project manager will differ drastically from that of a more conventional project, and you’ll learn how to distinguish between typical agile methods.

Section 2 – Adopting An Agile Approach

It also fills a critical need. Adopting the Agile Project Management (APM) method might be beneficial to your company, but you’re concerned it would be too disruptive. You may believe that Agile is a one-size-fits-all methodology, but that isn’t correct.

Good project leaders may examine their circumstances and pick which procedures to utilize based on their projects, organizations, and teams for agile processes. Those using a conventional, plan-driven method will discover how to switch to an agile methodology.

The sections covering common misconceptions and mistaken ideas about agile development techniques and the pros and drawbacks of adopting agile methods presented in this section. The following sections cover the core agile concepts businesses may want to implement.

The course aims to help project managers develop an agile mentality by providing broad advice for creating one. However, Professor will teach how to obtain the backing of critical decision-makers to apply agile principles in their firms.

Section 3 – The Scrum Development

Scrum is one of the most widely used agile methods, and it provides tools and processes that may be employed on a wide range of projects, including non-software ones. This training will assist future Scrum masters, product owners, and team members in learning the fundamentals of Scrum.

This document covers the responsibilities of stakeholders and members of the Scrum team. It also discusses the importance of effective communication. Moreover, the three primary stages in the Scrum development process are pre-game, game, and post-game. The activities and tools used in the game phase get detailing in this section.

The essentials of Scrum, such as product and sprint backlogs, daily stand-ups, sprint reviews/retrospectives, and burn-down charts for monitoring/reporting project progress, are all covered.

Section 4 – Project Initiating and Requirements Gathering

Agile teams using Scrum and XP-based agile methods have taken a more agile approach to project planning and completion. Release planning is the first stage in agile planning. The product vision, created by the product owner and stakeholders before putting together a project backlog, is emphasized here.

This product vision is shared and discussed with the team during the product development process to ensure that proper criteria, satisfaction conditions, and priorities-level user cases gather and evaluate requirements.

The last section of the book focuses on user stories, which have become the preferred method for agile teams to describe customer-centered features or requirements clearly.

Section 5 – Monitoring And Planning Iterations

This course focuses on producing and executing a sprint, an iteration project cycle. The product backlog is a list of project features that the team creates throughout release planning, the pre- agile planning stage.

Iteration planning is creating a more detailed iteration (or sprint) backlog for the upcoming phase. Creating an iteration planning procedure and an iteration backlog will cover in-depth in this course.

This course goes through the fundamentals of agile project scheduling, including creating a timetable and when and how to employ buffering principles. The final part of the lesson covers agile teams’ most important tools and procedures for monitoring and reporting project progress at the iteration level and overall project or release level.

Section 6 – Agile Team Management

Any project’s success depends on the quality of its team and leadership, but it’s especially essential in Agile development. This course will concentrate on agile teams and team leadership, the qualities that define an agile project team, and the skills and responsibilities required to work within them.

This seminar will show how traditional project managers can thrive in an agile world by adopting a new attitude. In the workplace, leaders must promote cooperation, collaboration, and problem-solving. This course covers leading a cross-functional team in the exact location and managing a distributed team.

Section 7 – Managing Stakeholder Engagement

The importance of stakeholder participation, collaboration, and communication during agile planning and development is emphasized throughout this course. However, to ensure that the ScrumMaster or agile project leader encourages stakeholders actively involved, the team understands the project’s needs and stakeholders’ expectations, or to keep everyone informed. But it’s critical to talk about the most popular technologies for knowledge sharing throughout the project.

Section 8 – Agil During The Releasee Project Value And Quality

This class starts with agile documentation techniques and essential contract forms that are most relevant to an agile setting.

In the next part of this book, you’ll learn how to apply Agile risk management and Earned Value Management. Other elements that impact product quality, such as adopting continuous testing to improve and verify customer value, are also addressed in this section.

Conclusion

Agile practitioners are those who have mastered Agile techniques. They can easily accept new ideas because of their openness to different viewpoints. Moreover, the ACP certification may only obtain after working with agile methodologies for eight months. But, being an ACP is well-known and highly valued throughout the world.
